This
year’s Salon showcases the work of those names familiar
to our audiences, while it also introduces several new
artists. Renown painter John Dowd exhibits his luminous
portrayals of the historical architecture, beaches, and
dunes of Provincetown and Truro, as well as a haunting
series chronicling Boston’s disrupted and ever-evolving
urban geography. Continuing to delight viewers with work
reminiscent of children's storybook illustrations, Rebecca
Doughty creates a complex and evocative world featuring
a cast of psychologically charged animal characters. Accomplished
artist Will Klemm offers his luscious and ethereal imagined
landscapes and dreamscapes, exquisitely rendered in pastel.
Intimate portraits by Daphne Confar, such as Tom thinks
big thoughts, employ clever titles to disclose idiosyncratic
tidbits of information, giving life to their isolated subjects.
New artists featured this year include Michael Page, who creates sculpture
and assemblage works utilizing found wood, and established San Francisco artist
David Tomb, whose energetic mixed media portraits are rendered with virtuostic
gestural intensity. Also new to our roster are abstract painter Deborah Davidson,
figurative painter Anette Jacque, photographer Michael Lynch, and studio furniture
artist Jeff Soderbergh. Other participating artists are Kelly Bennett, John Clayton,
David Dunlop, Harry Folsom, Chet Jones, Sandra Jones Campbell, Michael Lynch,
Keith Maddy, Nancy Nicholson, Michael Page, Steve Smulka, Jeff Soderbergh, and
David Tomb.
