WILL KLEMM

Working in the colorist tradition, Will Klemm's pastels depict intimate, timeless, landscapes. His command of the medium allows him to create light effects that are at once powerful and sublime, evoking nature's mystery and spirituality. Often constructed, his light sources do not obey the laws of physics, allowing his compositions to deliver heightened emotional impact. Klemm speaks of working while in a waking dream state, retreating into the mind's eye, and transforming the external visual information of the landscapes which inspire him, to create dream-like, internal, psychological landscapes. His works draw the viewer into their quiet solitude, providing a peaceful sanctuary from the day to day clamor of contemporary life.

A selection of Klemm's solo exhibitions include the Multiple Impressions Gallery, and the New York Art exposition, both in NYC, the Harris Gallery, Wally Workman Gallery, and Graphic Concern, all in TX, and the Winn-Devon Gallery in Seattle, WA. His work has been included in exhibitions at the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Austin Museum of Art, and is held in the corporate collections of Motorolla, Samsung, and Fidelity Mutual, among others. Klemm holds a B.F.A., Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Texas at Austin.
