CHET JONES

According to painter Chet Jones, “light is a living presence that supports everything,” and the artist bases his work on the simple act of looking at light. His conceptualized landscapes most often feature the façade of a singular house perched on a bare horizon. The geometric structure of the house acts as a point of departure as Jones then embarks on an intuitive exploration of color and light. Through the process of creating these minimal, concise, and iconic pieces, the artist achieves a visceral connection to the work that reaches beyond the level of conscious thinking.

A Provincetown-based artist, Jones has been painting professionally since 1981. He majored in art at Boston College, and attended art school in Florence, Italy. In addition to his many local exhibitions, Jones’ work has been shown in New York at the National Academy Museum. His work is included in both public and private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
